The Badminton Drive – Badminton rules

Drive is a flat and hard midfield ball. A drive can be done with both the forehand and the backhand. The stroke is often used in neutral game situations that do not allow to gain a direct point gain. The forehand drive is initiated with a lunge step on the forehand side of the playing field. Afterwards, the shuttle is maneuvered at head height or lower flat and sharp on the other side of the net.
The backhand drive begins with a lunge on the backhand side of the court. In doing so, the body of the batsman is turned strongly, so that one’s back is almost pointing to the opponent. As with the forehand drive, the shuttle is also played flat and hard over the net in the backhand variant.
